2023/24 Student Prefect Team
This article was written by Zanelle Awinyo, Year 12
The Student Prefect Team will be coordinating events and assemblies as well as representing the student body within their respective positions. To get in touch with them you may contact them directly through their emails or if you are a sixth form student, you may find them in the upper library. The student prefect team and student council will be the voice of all KCD Students so it is important that you know who to approach if you have any ideas and/or feedback. So before all else, a few words from your Student Prefect Team.
Hey everyone!
I’m Henrique, and I'll be your Head Boy for this school year. Some things you should know about me are; I am an IB student aiming to become a successful lawyer one day.
In case you’re not sure what being Head Boy means, my responsibilities lie in introducing new initiatives into school life and in organising the work of the pupil prefect team so that your senior school experience is both enjoyable and productive. In case you ever need to contact me, feel free to send me an email at henba24@kentcollege.ae or if you prefer meeting with me personally, when I’m not in lessons, you can usually find me in the upper library.
Hi there!
My name is Varya and I am your Head Girl for this academic year. A bit about me: I really enjoy reading- my personal recommendations are Cassandra Clare and Stephanie Meyer for fiction and Christopher Berry-Dee for non-fiction. I also really enjoy amusement parks and trees, so I hope to work in sustainability and the environment.
If you ever need anything or just want to chat, school-related or not, drop me an email at varbe24@kentcollege.ae or come and find me in the library and I’ll be happy to meet you!
Hi everyone!
I’m Yara, one of your Deputy Head Girls for this year. I’m currently completing my A Levels and have chosen to study Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.
I already completed my Arabic A level last year! I’m hoping to study medicine and become a doctor (preferably a surgeon). When I am not studying, I love playing sports; netball is my favourite, and I also really enjoy reading.
My role as the Deputy Head Girl is to implement new ideas into the school and support the Head Boy and Girl in doing so.
My main focus will be on sports, fundraising and events with Henrique. I’m aiming to be able to bring the whole Kent College Dubai community together. I would love to use your ideas and work on adding them to our plans, so please don’t hesitate to come to me and put forward your ideas and concerns. I really hope that you see me as someone that you can come to for anything and I’ll be more than happy to help the best that I can.
You can either send me an email yaral24@kentcollege.ae or find me in the upper library if I’m not in class!
Hi guys, I’m Alizah, one of your new Deputy Head Girls!
A little about myself: I’m currently studying Chemistry, Maths, Physics and Computer Science. I enjoy watching k-dramas, I’m quite fond of watercolour painting and I love to write! I also spend my free time coding and making small programmes using the programming language Python.
As Deputy Head, I’ll be responsible for communicating students’ needs to the responsible body, finding opportunities for you to participate in, and with the help of other prefects, make your academics your strongest suit. I look forward to seeing what we all achieve together and feel free to contact me at alikh24@kentcollege.ae
Hey Everyone!!
I’m Benny and I am going to be your Language Prefect for this year. A little bit about myself; I am an IB student who would love to work in Fashion. I love art, music and languages. I love to run in my freetime when I'm not studying or seeing my friends. As a language prefect, I make sure to support everyone who is trying to learn a new language for school and/or for fun. In addition to this, if you just moved from your home country, and English is a slight challenge please feel free to come up to me or send me an email if you ever need me at: bende24@kentcollege.ae
When I'm not in class, you can always find me in the upper library :)
Hey all!
I'm Kulsoom, your Well-being Prefect for this academic year. A little bit about myself: I study Psychology, Mathematics, and Biology for A Level, and I aspire to become a psychologist one day!
Here are three things you should know about me:
Books are my best friends, especially those in the YA Fantasy genre. (Let me know if you'd like any recommendations.)
I really enjoy listening to 90s Filmi Music, Korean R&B, and K-Pop.
The US version of The Office is the only piece of media I always have on my watchlist.
As the Well-being Prefect, I plan to lead a number of initiatives this year, including an Awareness Programme, World Mental Health Day and the Well-being ECA. If you'd like to join my Well-being Team and help me execute these ideas, you're more than welcome to do so!I love helping others, so if there's anything I can do for you, don't hesitate to email me at kulus23@kentcollege.ae. Thank you, and see you around!
Hey Everyone,
I am Paige, your Community Prefect for this academic year. This means that I am responsible for making the school environment more friendly and inviting for everyone in the school. I also want to bring the school community together by having engaging and exciting events this year. I am very passionate about making sure both the existing and new students of Kent College feel welcomed and appreciated in everything they do.
I am an A Level student studying Art, Design & Technology and Business, and later I hope to follow my dream of studying Architecture at University. In my free time I like to read books (sometimes) or go to the beach.
I will always go above and beyond to help people in need so please don’t hesitate to come speak to me.
Feel free to send me an email : paica24@kentcollege.ae and if you feel more comfortable speaking to me in person, I will be in the upper library.
Hello everybody, my name is Kynan Khan and I am your Academic Prefect. I am the guy you go to if you have any questions related to your academics.
A little about me, I am currently studying 3 A-level subjects; Mathematics, Economics and Business. I hope to continue studying Business at university. If you are new to sixth form and have any questions or need help in any subjects, feel free to drop me an email at Kynkh24@kentcollege.ae, and if you are doing any of the three subjects I am currently studying and need any help, don’t be afraid to ask! If you are not, don’t hesitate to still contact me as I can help you find the resources you need. I can relate to the stress that A-levels and GCSEs can bring and I’m here almost 24/7 to help.
I look forward to working with you throughout the rest of my sixth form career. Thank you.
